It sounds like a lot of numbers but that’s how big this event is for Parkes.
For the next three days the Parkes Hockey Association will host the 2017 NSW Masters Women’s Hockey Championships over hockey fields on Cheney and McGlynn Parks (Station Street).
The 61 teams include five teams from Parkes and eight teams from Orange.
Competing associations also include Illawarra South Coast, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga and Riverina, Northern Sydney and Beaches, Sydney East, Metro South West, Southern Highlands, Central Coast, Far South Coast and Goulburn.
Game times are from 12pm to 9.30pm on Friday, 8am to 7.30pm on Saturday and 8am to 3pm on Sunday.
The division 1 grand final, which could well see Parkes 1 defending their state title, will take place at 2pm on Sunday.
The official opening ceremony, which will include an address by Mayor Ken Keith, will be held at 12pm on Saturday.
