Parkes got off to a dream start when Richard Webb swooped on a loose ball five minutes into the game putting the home side on the attack early in the game. Two phases later Tohi dove over for the first score to put Parkes in front 5-0.
CSU responded and hit back with a try and the score stayed this way due to some good defence by Parkes with Jason Lowe preventing CSU scoring with try saving tackles. CSU managed to cross again shortly before half time putting the visitors slightly in the lead 12-5 at the break.
Parkes had a good share of possession but some poor passes saw the CSU on the attack again and score out wide to extend their lead 19-5. Parkes dug deep to stem the flow with Ben Rathbone devastating at the breakdowns managing to effectively clean out over the mauls and win the ball back for the Boars. Will Marchinton was impressive providing Parkes with plenty of ball carries into the CSU defence and making plenty of metres.
Rusi was great in attack making attacking off the back of the scrum and from the mauls. Jason Burrell was also terrific in attack and tireless in defence. Dennis Webb never stopped all game and did plenty of work in defence kept CSU from scoring even though they had the lion share of the ball. CSU pulled away in the end but Parkes but never stopped trying. Final score CSU 34 Parkes 5.
Best for Parkes were Ben Rathbone, Rusi Lawanikula, Brad Burrell and Will Marchinton
Parkes versus CSU Colts
- by Allan Ryan
CSU started strongly and dominated possession early to test the Parkes defence. Parkes got the ball but failed to clear the ball out of defence which CSU took advantage off to register the first try of the game. CSU continued to control possession of the ball and Parkes were forced to defend for continuous phases throughout the game.
Mackenzie Green was tough around the mauls and did his best to secure the ball when on attack and clean out CSU when defending. Jonah Ruzgus was a strong defender for the Boars putting on some strong tackles. Ethan Peters played his usual tough game and tackled tirelessly closing down the CSU attack. The game became tougher for the Boars when then had a player sent to the bin shortly before half time. But Parkes continued to attack and were just short of the line when play was stopped for half time. Score CSU 12 Parkes 0.
Soon into the second half CSU got through the Boars defence but once again the solid defence of Pat Jones saw CSU denied a try. In what became a spiteful second half and another Parkes player sin binned CSU were able to only score one more try for the send half. Final Score 19-0. Best for Parkes were Jonah Ruzgus, Jason Lowe and Same Herring

Our little Boars came back raring to go at Kinross this week. With two draws and a win they played some great footy. Our first game was against Emu's White. Great defence from both teams made for a tough game. Oliver Reynolds and Heath Rathbone worked tirelessly to hold the Emu's out from the line. Hayden Milne found a hole in the Emu's defensive line to score in the corner. It wasn't long before Tom Chapman made a breaking run to score the first of his two tries for the day.
Game two we faced Bathurst White. It didn't take Olivia Milligan long to show she has what it takes by going over the line with the first of her two tries for the day. Lockey Harbridge and Angus Gillies showed us some awesome defensive skills all throughout the day. Kalvin Dargan soon followed with the first of three tries.
Game three against Wellington was our winning game of the day. Our Boars continued to work hard throughout the entire game. Lachlan Gillies was on fire scoring one try in this game from four tries in total. Cameron Hunter and Louis Arsac fought long and hard to keep Wellington out. Isabel Hunter showed she wasn't going to give up when she went over the line for her second of the day.
Everyone had a great day and are looking forward to Canowindra next week.
Players of the day: Olivia Milligan, Lachlan Gillies.
Most Improved: Angus Gillies.

The kids thought it was great to get back into some footy after the holidays, travelling this week to Orange for the Kinross Wolaroi School’s Gala Day. The draw made it somewhat easier for parents to get back into the swing of things with the first game not scheduled till 10am. The players took on Canowindra. Our pack soon asserted their dominance which was to last the duration of the match. Midway through the first half after a few tries had been posted Dom Gibson stole the ball and with a great offload, Kayleb McConnell was through for a try. Henry Rice was also quick to swoop on a loose ball and employed the pick-and-go trIck to sneak over the chalk for a try just before the half time break. The second half saw Kayleb get his second try and teammate Holly Duncan score a hat-trick of fantastic tries to help seal an 8-2 win for the young Boars.
Game two against traditional arch rivals, Forbes resembled more of a wrestling match than a game of rugby. Both teams were vying strongly for possession with each ruck attracting players like bees to a honey pot. After breaking the pile and getting into some space after a strong run, Kyan Rathbone was the only try scorer for Parkes in this game. As always Hugh MacGregor put his body on the line and made a number of solid runs with the sideline his worst enemy on a number of occasions. Riley Duncan brought his own cheer squad of relatives and ensured he put in a solid performance for them, often first to the breakdown and continually applying pressure to try to turn over possession. Jack Milligan was always close to the action waiting for an opportunity to present itself to get into the game and Eben Labuschagne was ever present backing up his teammates. Despite continual effort and an extra 3 minutes, which felt more like 300, played after the final hooter Parkes weren’t able to change the end result, Forbes running out 5-1 victors.
The last game saw opposition Wellington come out of the gates firing putting on two quick tries. Henry Rice was the first of the Parkes players to reply, taking the lead and running through the defence to score. Wellington were quick to hit back but defence from the likes of Fergus ‘The Tackling Machine’ Keiran shut down any further opportunities to post points. From there great ball service from Zac Guy who took to the role of halfback and sustained pressure from the whole team allowed Sonny MacGregor to cross for three tries, Kyan to storm across for one and Holly to add one more to her daily tally. When the final hooter sounded it saw Parkes 6-3 winners, for the first time all season against the Wellington side. A late injury to Holly was an unfortunate way to end what had otherwise been a great day for both her and her teammates.
A huge thanks to Jackson Guy who stepped in a short notice to coach the team for the day and congratulations to award winner Fergus Keiran for a solid performance.
