Round 14: The Brian Collins smash repairs under 16s travelled to Dubbo to take on the ‘Nyngan Tigers’. The first half was an untidy affair with a lot of mistakes from both teams. Nyngan was able to cross the line first to take a six nil lead. The Parkes boys were defending well but mistakes were costing them in attack. An injury to a Nyngan player delayed play and we were transferred to another ground to complete a sloppy first half down six nil.

The second half started with a more determined look and some good tough defence. Cody Crisp was on a mission to upset the Nyngan attack with some great defence, well supported by all the forwards. Some good controlled play through the forwards led to a well deserved try to Ben Lovett to bring the score back to six to four. Parkes forwards were making some good ground in the middle and Marty Hennock was able slice through to score and put Parkes in the lead at ten to six. Parkes were well on top at this stage with the backs, led by Benji Glasheen and Raiden Choyce, getting room to show their skills. Benji was able to break through the line and sprint away for a great solo try to extend our lead to 16 to six. Parkes continued to apply pressure to the Nyngan defence, Luke Wright was able to split the defence and sprint inside the Nyngan half and offload to Zac Davis who crossed for a terrific try. Ben Lovett converted to make the game safe at 22 to six. A late try to Nyngan made the final score 22 to 12. A nice win, after a sloppy start with all players digging deep to secure the win. Well done to all players and supporters who made the trip to Dubbo.
