As part of the standard stableford competition, 67 players were allowed four ‘joker’ holes where their points received a boost.
Nominated by the player before teeing off, three joker holes doubled the points scored while a fourth hole saw points scored there tripled.
Burke finished the day on 58 points, three clear of second-placed Peter Picker.
Other ball winners included Rob Hey with 52 points; Rob Lea (50); Rod Luyt (49); Warren Blatch and Tim Lasserre (48); Vince Kelly, Peter Dixon, Ron Hetherington and Brian Hogan Snr (47); John Green (46); Shen Tarento, Peter Bristol and James Ward (45); and John Pearce, Tony Hendry, Tom Ward and Chris Goodie (44).
Wayne Parker continued his nearest the pin dominance of the Idlerite-Tyrepower 1st hole, winning it for his third round in a row when his 5-wood finished only 105cm away.
Warren Blatch won the Griffins Leading Edge 4th at 422cm while Ian Hendry claimed the prize on the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th hole at 200cm.
Justin Sutton finished closest on the Harvey Norman 11th hole with his tee shot finishing 200.3cm from the flag.
Mitch McGlashan won the first of his two awards on the Westlime 15th hole when he hit his tee shot to only 410cm on the elevated green.
McGlashan was also closest with his second shot into the PJL Group 18th hole, setting up an easy birdie chance at 310cm.
Perennial morning golfer Tim Lasserre made the most of calm conditions to claim the award on the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th hole when hois second shot came to rest 294cm from the cup.
Saturday’s round was also the final Handiskins qualifier.
Warren Blatch took full advantage and was the top scorer of those nominated in the event.
In some club news, the proposed implementation of a $5 social fee for members has been rejected with social rounds still free for financial members of the club.
Nearest the pins can now be recorded in any measurement unit as long as it is clearly stated what that unit is.
If it is not clear, the shot will be disqualified from the nearest the pin prizes.
This weekend, Parkes golf Club will hold an 18 hole fourball best ball stableford multiplier on Saturday sponsored by Signs By Greg with an individual event in conjunction.
Sunday will see the final of the annual Cunninghams IGA Scratch Shoot-out.
