The workshop is aimed at tourism operators and other related businesses to discuss the projects, campaigns and initiatives that Council will undertake to grow the visitor economy of the Parkes Shire.
Council's Economic & Business Development Unit will deliver the workshop which will incorporate an update on the current state of the tourism industry and opportunities for local business.
Council's Destination Development Manager, Kelly Hendry said there will be a range of items on the agenda from destination management planning to major festival and event opportunities.
“The hot topics for discussion will include the Parkes Shire Destination Management Plan, visitor information services and support, upcoming marketing campaigns and the 2018 Parkes Elvis Festival,” Kelly said.
The workshop is a great opportunity to network with fellow tourism operators while also learning how to leverage the programs and initiatives that Council will deliver to drive the visitor economy.
“Parkes Shire is well positioned as an accessible tourist destination on the Newell Highway with iconic attractions and events that inject over $58M in visitor expenditure to the Parkes Shire economy each year,” Kelly said.
“We need to continue to harness the benefits of the visitor economy and deliver improved product and experiences and implement marketing activities that encourage increased length of stay and spend for local businesses.”
