Parkes Junior League Players show outstanding sportsmanship as they played for Canowindra last Saturday.

As smaller clubs are struggling to fill teams it is awesome to see our Parkes players put on a guernsey for the other team and play with dedication and commitment.
Parkes helped fill all teams last Saturday, giving players more field time and an important lesson in team work and sportsmanship.
Under 7s
Agriwest under 7 had a great day last Saturday as they played Canowindra.
The under 7 players learn to work as a team and develop skills as they re-enact their football heros on the field.
Junior Girls League Tag
Junior League Tag Girls played Canowindra at home on Saturday.
The girls started the game well scoring early in the game with a great ball from Bronte Thompson finding the speedy Jorj Simpson out wide.
Canowindra who fields a very young team showed great improvement and had the Parkes girls working hard in attack.
Great meters were being made by Charley Jones, Sharla Parker-Lee and Grace Milne.
The Heraghty girls, Lily and Josie, were a crowd favorite.
Showing some classy foot work and both running at least 40 meters to score awesome tries. Erin Fernando once again was snapping ankles with her step and speed and bagging another try for the year.
Bronte Thompson and Nell Smith both played well in the halves, they worked hard in defence and both showed great vision scoring tries.
The always determined Izabella Terrill was great in the middle running the ball hard and gaining ground. Jazz Terrill scored her second try for the year using space out wide.
The girls kicked a record six conversions for the day too. Which is great as it’s something they have previously struggled with.
Final score Parkes 52 to Canowindra 6.
Under 10s
Derrick Hoe Excavation Under 10’s walked away last Saturday with a confident win over Canowindra 44 – 10.
Tries went to Oakley Fliender, Jaylen Kelly, three to Jack Milne and four to Lachie Thomas.
Conversion were successful from Jaylen Kelly, Jack Milne, Jayden Monaghan-McLean and Lachie Thomas.
Under 12s
A good win for K & H Earthmoving-Haulage and Central West Sheds under 12s last Saturday has boosted their confidence.
Mac Rauchle was quick to score for Parkes but unfortunately conversion was unsuccessful. Defense from Jackson Parker-Lee, Josh Bowd, Caleb Crisp, Dustin James and Brian Mendoza ensured Canowindra didn’t score.
A kick caught beautifully by Jake Herring set the next points in motion as he headed towards the try line.
Bob McEwen continued with a solid run. Ball passing down the line saw Jake Herring dodge players to score his first try for the season, conversion by Jackson Parker-Lee was successful, giving Parkes the lead ten nil.
Defence continued to hold Canowindra out but a knock on gave them the advantage they needed to score.
Parkes came back fighting. Mac Rauchle made good ground. Jackson Parker-Lee was able to keep the ball alive passing out of a tackle.
Bob McEwen stepped straight through to score followed by points as Toby Cox converted. Oliver Thomas was strong in offence this game making several breaks to set Parkes into good position.
Ball Passing saw the young team spread the ball quickly with Ty Davis over the line to score. Unfortunately conversion was unsuccessful. Parkes had a solid lead at half-time.
Second half saw Parkes players swap sides to help Canowindra fill their side.
A special mention to Kane Coulston, who continued to play the second half with the opposition.
As Parkes found their feet after their field and position changes Canowindra found a gap to score.
A penalty kick by Parkes didn’t find touch resulting in Canowindra regaining possession and scoring.
Parkes defence gained strength as Joe Monk, Marley Moran, Zac Slavin, Mason Leedham and Mac Rauchle worked together to stop Canowindra making ground.
Final points came after Mason Leedham had a good run, followed by Mac Rauchle and Ty Davis.
Zac Slavin was held up but quick play and a smart pass from Toby Cox to Bob McEwen saw him score. Conversion was unsuccessful but Parkes had won, 24 –14.
Senior Girls League Tag
Parkes Services Club and Parkes Spaceman Senior Girls League Tag had a bye last Saturday
Sportspower under 14s had their first loss of the season
Sportspower under 14s continue to be one of the strongest teams in the comp. Last Saturday they played Canowindra at home.
Tyson Richardson kicked off with a very deep kick that saw Canowindra attack but solid defence by Dustin Ticehurst, Ben Cooper, Finnley Neilsen and Wilson Duffy kept them from scoring.
Toby Miller caught the kick taking off down the sideline to score with a successful conversion by Michael Riley.
Points continued as Toby finished the next set with another try and another conversion from Michael followed.
Next set saw Bailey Bowd score under the post and Michael convert.
Our forwards, Dustin Ticehusrt and Finnley Neilsen worked the next set pushing through defence with Finnley over for the points, conversion was unsuccessful.
A lost ball from Parkes gave Canowindra some ball time. Parkes applied the pressure in defense forcing a ball error and gaining possession.
A team try was next as the ball passed down the line. Michael Riley was close but the ref said held-up.
Bayden Moran finished the play diving over the line to score. Bailey Bowd made the next break running half the field offloading to Bayden who took the ball over the line to score. Michael Riley successfully converted.
Next set saw the Parkes defence work with tackles from Jason Wright, Zayne Eshman, Col Rauchle, Kade Crisp, Wilson Duffy and Bailey Bowd as they protected their wings.
Change over gave Parkes possession with Bailey Bowd turning it into points scoring, conversion was unsuccessful.
Toby Miller was in again and conversion was successful by Michael Riley bringing the half-time score to 36 nil.
As players changed guernseys and returned to their own team and fresh faces played for Canowindra the next half was certainly going to see Canowindra give it their all.
Parkes Dustin Ticehurst was through the defense line offloading to Bayden Moran who scored.
New forwards Benny Herring and Kane Slavin with support from Jai Thompson and Lachlan Swindle stepped up with tackle after tackle to keep Canowindra from making ground.
Next try came after good runs from Benny Herring and Kane Slavin with Bayden Moran through to score and Michael Riley converting.
Canowindra put points on the board as Finnley Neilsen showed wearing another teams guernsey doesn’t mean you don’t play your best scoring their first try.
The kick from Canowindra was successful retrieved by Bailey Bowd as the boys drove the ball forward, Col Raucle turned it into points scoring followed by another conversion from Michael.
Parkes defense held Canowindra out and change over gave Parkes possession.
Good runs from the boys saw Bayden finish the set with another try. Canowindra were not giving up scoring from a chip and chase.
Toby Miller picked up the kick and ran the field to score.
Final points of the game went to Bayden Moran in a runaway try on the bell, conversion by Toby Miller was successful.
Parkes had won on a forfeit but final game score was 78 – 10.
Under 16s
The Brian Collins Smash Repairs Under 16s also had a bye.
