The special charity match against the Forbes Platypi – where First Grade Boars sported unique Spiderman charity jerseys – raised $6500 for the cause.
The three grades were played in front of a large crowd, that also saw great support from the Platypi club and its fans.
The jerseys were, as club treasurer Ed Lowe described, “entertainingly” auctioned off by Geoff Rice of Langlands Hanlon following the games at the Coachman Hotel Motel.
“He did a great job, he always helps us out immensely,” Lowe said.
Helping contribute to the day's final figure, the club donated half of its gate takings to Can Assist and a raffle was run during matches.
Can Assist volunteers spent time at the Northparkes Oval gate with their collection bucket, collecting donations from generous spectators.
Results on the day were Firsts Parkes 13 – Forbes 47, Seconds Parkes 0 – Forbes 58 and Colts Parkes 22 – Forbes 10.
