It does generate a flurry of activity which is a positive thing.
I hope that you are keeping cool as the end of the finanicial year draws near.
If you are looking to offload some spare coin, remember that Central West Lachlan Landcare is a registered Not-For-Profit organisation working to make a difference in the Parkes and Forbes Shires.
Travelling Stock Review extended
Good news for those who are hoping to provide feedback on the NSW Government Travelling Stock Reserves (TSR) Review.
The Review is seeking input from the community on the current uses of the 6500 TSRs across the state, covering around two million hectares of Crown land, and the deadline for submissions has been extended until 5pm on Friday, July 7.
The Central West Local Land Services (CWLLS) wants to know why you think TSRs are important and what their values are.
This is particularly relevant to farmers, bushwalkers, campers and fishers, local Aboriginal communities and environmental groups – they want to hear from anyone who has an interest in TSRs in their area.
The Review will help determine the current use of the land by collecting an evidence base on what the TSRs are used and valued for today.
And this will help inform future decisions on how to best to protect and manage the land for its current and future uses.
An online mapping tool which shows the locations of the TSRs in your area can be found at www.lls.nsw.gov.au/livestock/stock-routes/nsw-travelling-stock-reserves-review
If you want to have your say, go to the CWLLS website or to the links in this article on facebook and our web page, or pop into the CWLLS office in Forbes or Parkes.
Recognition for Landcarers
Many of our Landcarers achieve great things in their community and are not recognised as widely as we think they should be.
At their recent meeting, the Council of Landcare NSW determined that an Honour Roll would be established on the Landcare NSW website, where Landcarers, and Landcare groups/projects who have received local state or national awards could have their achievements more widely promoted.
Landcare NSW is currently constructing this page, and would like to hear from our Landcare community with information about their local heroes.
To have your local heroes recognised please complete the form on this page and we shall begin the Honour Roll which will appear on this site.
Another award that is close to our hearts is the 2017 Gerald Carnie Memorial Award.
In June 2011, Gerald Carnie, a committed Landcarer from the Parkes area, died suddenly at the age of 46, leaving his wife Lorraine and sons, Ryan and Jarrod grieving and the Landcare community shocked.
The Gerald Carnie Memorial Award for Keeping the Landcare Flame Alive was established by Landcare NSW to recognise this very special individual’s contributions to the Landcare movement.
This honour is awarded at the bi-annual NSW State Landcare Conference to an individual in recognition of their contribution to the development of “the philosophy of Landcare”.
The recipient will champion the development of Landcare as a means to support and engender change in attitudes, which translates to a more cohesive and resilient community that acts to achieve a healthier environment and/or more productive and sustainable farms.
Applicants will be judged on the impact they have had at the local AND regional or state scale to ensure that Landcare can prosper.
Submissions for nominations close on Friday, September 1 2017.

Until next week, happy Landcaring!
