Children from Parkes Early Childhood Centre, Nurture One Victoria Street Children’s Centre, regular Library Story Time participants and members of the public laughed and cheered along as the Parkes Library Players acted out the picture book written by Tony Wilson and Illustrated by Laura Wood.
Chief director Sandie Ward read the story while Gillian Hunt played the dish and the spoon, Ann-Marie Winter the cat and the fiddle, Sally Chapman the little dog, Dan Fredericks the cow, Tina Mylecharane the moon and Claire Cassell the timekeeper.
Their performance of The Cow Tripped Over The Moon was a wonderfully entertaining tale of friendship which also relays the message – if you don’t succeed, keep on trying.
The annual event aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books and takes place during Library and Information Week.
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, preschools, child care centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
