Successful completion of a grading is represented by the belt system which starts at white and goes through a range of colours, until the black belt.
Testing for each new belt is a great exercise in testing one’s capabilities and demonstrating their new skills.
Both adults and children who are involved in karate become much more confident in themselves. Working through the belt system sets measurable and realistic goals to achieve, and by mastering a new technique or grading to a higher belt, creates a sense of accomplishment that will follow the karate student wherever they go.
Karate is a great way to achieve physical fitness, focus and mental strength, while also learning self-discipline. The skills learnt in karate can transpose into all other areas of their lives – school, sports, work and home.
Karate helps build self esteem and self respect. The students learn about respect from the moment they walk into karate – they learn to treat other students the way they wish to be treated themselves, punching, kicking and other moves are secondary to the ethics and respect they learn for self and others. There is always a strong emphasis on good manners to be polite to teachers, parents and their peers at all times.
Parkes Central West Kyokushin Karate branch continues to grow from strength to strength and this year will see some of our students taking part in karate tournaments.
