The Parkes Headquarters Rural Fire Brigade was the deserving recipient this year.
“Because they’re a jolly good cause,” Companions Thru Cancer president Pam Moule said.
“Each year we donate money to someone and this year it was them who drew the straw.”
Brigade members were invited to attend an afternoon tea, which saw firefighter Hayley Chester, senior deputy captain Steve Chester and captain Scott Baker present.
Here Companions Thru Cancer members presented the trio with the $1000 cheque.
They were also invited to give a talk about their brigade and the work behind the job as a rural firefighting volunteer.
Companions Thru Cancer members who were present on the day were Barbara Rawson, Marilyn Phipps, Heather Sherriff, Joan Dean, Liz Jones, Trish Davies, Mavis Moon and Kath Pettit.
