During a visit to Parkes East Public School a representative from Northparkes reiterated their support for the leading childhood health education provider, Life Education.
Northparkes has proudly supported Life Education for six years, with the funding directed to the Parkes and Forbes Shires to the benefit of the local community.
With Northparkes’ support in 2017, 25 local schools can continue to receive Life Education’s program, which empowers children and young people to make safer and healthier choices through education.
Justine Fisher, Community & External Relations said Northparkes are committed to the health and wellbeing of their people, as well as the community in which they operate.
“Life Education plays an important role in promoting health education for school aged children, which reinforces our belief in the benefits of healthy living,” she said
Mayor of Parkes Shire, Ken Keith OAM, who is a board member of Life Education NSW, said he was delighted that Northparkes were partnering with Life Education in delivering this vital service again in 2017.
“It is wonderful to be here at Parkes East Public School today to see first-hand children engaging with life education lessons,” Cr Keith said.
“Northparkes have been long-time supporters of Life Education and we greatly value and appreciate their contribution and hope that it continues in the future. They are members of the Parkes Life Action Group which recently raised $4,000 through a Healthy Harold swim relay.”
Kellie Sloane, CEO of Life Education NSW said that with Northparkes’ support, children in the region could lead safe and healthy lives, now and into the future.
“We want to work with every school in the region to build on the positive messages kids are being taught and give them the capability to deal with life’s bigger issues when they are faced with them,” she said.
“I encourage schools throughout the Parkes and Forbes area and across NSW to take up the opportunity and participate in the Healthy Harold program.”
Life Education NSW is a community-based, independent organisation at the front line of positive and preventative health and drug education.
In NSW, more than 300,000 students in over 1400 schools take part in the preschool, primary and secondary programs each year.
Helping young people make informed decisions about drugs and health is at the heart of the program, which is driven by popular and iconic Life Education mascot Healthy Harold the giraffe.
A not for profit, Life Education is one of the only mobile health providers to visit every local government area and geographic region in the state – its ultimate aim is to make their programs available to every child and support every classroom teacher across NSW, no matter how small or remote the location.
