James “Monte” Irvine hosts #MonteFamous on Monday nights and each week he interviews three independent or unsigned Australian musicians.
Since the shows inception, under it’s former name “Uncharted Wednesdays”, Monte has interviewed 197 Australian artists or bands and played their music on 2LVR Valley Fm.
A number of the artists have debuted their music on Monte’s show as well as bands playing live in the studio.
Each week, Monte also has guest hosts who take part in the interviews.
John Berger, President of 2LVR Valley Fm said it was his pleasure to nominate Monte and his show for the 2017 CBAA Radio awards.
“Monte and his show are a great contribution to new and unsigned Australian artists who wouldn’t necessarily get interviewed or airplay on other radio stations,” John said.
“Over 190 artists and bands have featured on the #MonteFamous and Uncharted Wednesday shows.
“Not many small community radio stations such as Valley Fm could boast an impressive record like this.”
Monte has also been recognised for his contribution to the Australian scene when he was invited to be a guest presenter at the 2016 Music Oz Australian Independent Music Awards ceremony in Sydney.
In further recognition of the #MonteFamous show and its impact on the Indie music scene, Music Talk magazine have interviewed Monte.
“It’d be great for #MonteFamous to be picked up by the Community Radio Network (CRN) and syndicated around Australia and these new artists would get even more exposure,” John said.
