Consuelo De Ocampo Leongson, Emevie Crow and her 10-year-old son Josh Dollizon, and Dr Kiran Shrestha and wife Yangi were invited to the front of the Council Chambers for the citizenship ceremony.
Consuelo, Emevie and Josh took the oath, and Kiran and Yangi took the affirmation before a room full of family and friends who gathered for the special occasion.
Consuelo came to Australia from the Philippines in December 2012, settling in Parkes immediately.
She works part time at Australian Unity and Mr Sushi King, and enjoys reading and spending time with her husband Dennis and two sons Denver and Deniel.
Emevie arrived in Australia from the Philippines with her son Josh in July 2013, also settling in Parkes.
She enjoys cooking, travelling and dancing, while Josh loves to draw.
Kiran came to Australia from Nepal in 2010, later relocating to Parkes in 2016 to work as a general practitioner.
Yangi followed her husband a year later, also moving to Parkes in 2016, and is a registered nurse.
The couple said they’re loving living in Parkes, describing the town and its people as very friendly.
Mayor Ken Keith and general manager Kent Boyd welcomed and congratulated the new citizens and their families on this big step.
“I congratulate these candidates on their decision to become Australia citizens, a decision welcomed not only by me but by all Australians,” Cr Keith said.
“This is a big step, regardless of how long you have been living in Australia.”
