Missed Opportunities Cost United 2-1 loss. Parkes United were left shaking their heads at the end of their match against Orange Ex-Services in Parkes on Saturday. Despite having the majority of the attack for the entire match and creating a myriad of opportunities to score goals, Parkes finished with a 2-1 loss. Despite getting two green cards during the match, Jade Williams was the hero for Ex-Services scoring an amazing field goal in the first half which rocketed high into the top right corner of the match and capitalising on a penalty corner scrimmage in the second half. Parkes had some very strong attacking raids in the first half with India Draper unlucky not to score on two occasions. Paige Hay was also denied a good chance in the first half with her shot just missing the goal by millimetres. The second half Parkes put themselves back in the match when Syann Allen and Louise Hawken charged into attack and used smart passing to eliminate the keeper with Hawken slotting home the equaliser. When Ex-Services went 2-1 up there was still plenty of time on the clock for Parkes to score. Parkes forced numerous short corners but desperate defence from Ex-Services denied Parkes of these chances. Best and Fairest points were awarded to Sarah Hartin, Niamh Dixon and India Draper. Player’s player went to mid-fielder Sarah Hartin after a strong performance in both attack and defence.  Coach Aaron Huppatz was frustrated with the loss. Parkes will need to be at their best this weekend when Lithgow Panthers arrive in Parkes. Lithgow defeated Bathurst Souths 11-2 last weekend so will be certainly very difficult opposition.
