The retired Hospital Microbiologist is on a three year fundraising mission for Lifeline, travelling around the country performing classical guitar.
Murray said his goal is to reach as many people as possible to raise awareness for the telephone counselling service.
“Australians are suffering deep personal crisis,” Murray said.
“I am doing this to raise awareness and because of my sense of compassion.
“If you are experiencing violence, abuse, mental illness, bullying, suicidal thoughts or attempts, stress from family or work please call Lifeline on 13 11 14.”
The 64-year-old has been on the road since March 6 and has already raised more than $3000.
He is funding the trip himself and one hundred per cent of the donations he receives go Lifeline.
“It is a privilege to be doing this for my fellow Australians,” he said.
“I have received incredible support from so many people over the last eight weeks.”
Murray will be playing his guitar and collecting donations at the front of Coles supermarket from 3.30pm to 6pm on Monday and Tuesday.
You can catch an interview with Murray 2PK on Monday at 1.20pm.
