The Parkes Bowling and Sports Club (PBSC) futsal competition has kicked off with the mixed teams playing their second round last week.
Director of PBSC, and president of the Social Sporting committee, Steve Skinner, said community response has been very positive.
“We now also have four registered men’s teams who start their comp on Friday night,” he said.
“Parkes High starts will start using the futsal fields for sport this week and we are looking at running a couple of gala days for primary school aged kids to raise some more interest.
“This first competition was a bit late getting started, it runs for 13 weeks with the grand final played on July 5.
“In future they will run from January to May with a second comp starting in October and finishing up at Christmas.”
Steve said everyone involved is enjoying not only the games, but the also the social side of the competition.
“The committee is cooking a barbecue and providing sausage sandwiches for a few dollars after the games,” he said.
Wednesday night games are played at 6.15pm, 7.15pm and 8.15pm with two 20 minute halves and a five minute half time.
Men play at 6pm on Fridays and Parkes High School on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays.
