This celebration usually takes place on Holy Thursday morning in the cathedral church.
This Mass, which the Bishop concelebrates with his presbyterium, (college of Priests) and at which the oils are blessed, manifests the communion of priests with their bishop.
During the service, after Bishop Columba has addressed his priests on their commitment to their priestly vocation, they renew their commitment to Priestly Service.
During the Chrism Mass, the oils of Catechumens, Sick and Chrism are blessed.
These oils are used in the celebration of the reception of some of the Sacraments throughout the year, for example, Baptism, Confirmation, Ordination and the Sacrament of the Sick.
