Bridge News
Parkes Bridge Club held our annual Agnes Hewett Memorial Trophy day on Sunday, March 19. Sixteen teams competed and the winners were a composite team from Dubbo/Wellington as were the runners up.
Forbes won the restricted division whilst the best local team award went to Ingrid Stephenson, Keith Fiedler, Greig Ball and Gary Somers who were only one point ahead of Isabel Orange, Bev Laing, Gai Baker and Anne Berkeley.
The day was a great success with much praise from our visitors for the wonderful catering.
Also at the event we celebrated the birthdays of our two 92 year olds - Val Worthington and Isabel Orange - whose minds are still as sharp as when they first started playing bridge many years ago.
Results from last Thursday's seven table Mitchell game were :- North south winners Greig Ball and Louise Payne 61.9, Gai Baker and Fay Davis 51.8, Joan Reilly and Val Worthington50.6.
For east west Keith Fiedler and Ingrid Stephenson topped on 61 per cent. Second were Fay Shaw and Jan Freeman 58.3 followed by Wendy Andrews and Peter Dearden 54.5.
