An excellent field contested last Saturday’s Owen Crowley and the Corner Boys sponsored 18 Hole Stableford event at the Parkes Golf Club Course and solid scoring was certainly the order on a day that also saw members contesting the Terry Sheridan Memorial Trophy.

VALE COLIN “SNOW” WATTS
The club lost one of real characters when it was learnt of the sad passing of Colin “Snow” Watts in the early hours of Sunday morning. Despite being a resident of the Rosedurnate Nursing Home for the past 4 years Watts will long be remembered as a great servant of the club and he was often found volunteering his services to the clubs Greens Staff and to the Veterans Tuesday morning working bees.
Watts had only recently celebrated his 89th birthday on Friday, March 11 was a man of many trades and was liked by all persons who he had encountered during his colourful life.
Funeral arrangements for the late Colin “Snow” Watts will take place this Wednesday at his home town of Trundle.

PENNANTS
Congratulations to the Mudgee Golf Club upon its victories in both the Division 1 & 2 Pennants finals at the Orange Ex-Services Club on Sunday.
In the Division 2 final between Parkes and Mudgee the contest went right down to the wire with matches square at 2 all after victories by Phil Barnard and Denis Howard it appeared all dome and gloom for the Parkes team as with 2 holes left to play Parkes’s No 1 Tim Burke was 2 down but like all true stayers he recorded breathtaking victories on the final two holes to force the match into a sudden death situation and unfortunately in a match that see-sawed from the start to finish the match didn’t deserve to see either player go down, however the Mudgee team rallied to take the match 3 and 2 in a nail biting finish.
Despite the loss Parkes team Captain and Manager Denis Howard was extremely proud of his team.
In the Division 4 Final between Forbes and Cowra, Forbes came home victorious.
