At Woodward Oval
Parkes Hotel Galahs 10/72 in 23.3 overs – Jack Murray 19, Grant Thompson 19, Brad Watt 4/12 off 6, Jackson Glasheen 2/14 off 5, Will Searl 2/19 off 5, Paul Carty 2/3 off 1.3) lost the semi final to Reedy Gold 5/74 in 25.3 overs (Jackson Glasheen 36no, Brad Fletcher 16, Adam Parker 3/8 off 6, Brad Parker 1/21 off six and Darcy James 1/27 off 6).
Reedy Gold won by 5 wickets.
Reedy Gold advanced to the Final of the Coolabah Cup competition by defeating Parkes Hotel Galahs in a low scoring game at Woodward Oval.
The Coolabah Cup final will now be a 'local derby' between the two Reedy Creek teams.
Reedy Green were the first time into the final after defeating Reedy Gold in a semi final the previous week.
On that occasion Reedy Gold didn’t help their cause by going into the match without a full complement of players.
These two teams have been the competition front runners throughout the 2016/17 season.
Batting first Galahs were never really able to get on top of a keen, persistent Reedy Gold bowling attack.
Only Jack Murray and Grant Thompson, who both scored 19, were able to reach double figures.
Brad Watt returned the fine figures of 4/12 off six very economical overs, while Jackson Glasheen, Will Searl and Paul Carty chimed in to take two wickets apiece for Reedy Gold.
Reedy Gold did not have everything go their way in the run chase for victory.
Adam Parker turned in a splendid bowling spell to capture 3/8 off six overs to see Reedy Gold's score standing at 4/24 with the match evenly balanced.
Reedy Gold captain Jackson Glasheen played a true captain’s knock to score an undefeated 36 not out.
Jackson and Brad Fletcher added 43 runs for the 5th wicket prior to seeing the Golds to victory.
The Galahs should be pleased with their very competitive efforts during the 2016/17 season.
Tim Allen inspires Pitbulls to victory over the Honey Badgers in Radiola Cup Semi Final
Railway Pitbulls opening batsman Tim Allen played a key role in piloting his side to victory in their semi final last weekend.
The match was a highly competitive affair against the Parkes Hotel Honey Badgers team at the match played at Northparkes Oval.
After taking a stunning catch to dismiss key Honey Badgers batsman Chris Orr earlier in the game, Tim Allen then produced a splendid innings in a man of the match performance to carry his bat and finish with a well compiled 107 not out to guide the Pitbulls to victory.
He received great support from Shane Jones who finished his day with 63 rns and also took two wickets.
Scores in the high scoring semi final match were;
Parkes Honey Badgers 6/198 in 30 overs (Dan Gordon 57, Chris Orr 49, Nathan Murphy 30, Nathan Gaidzionis 25no, Carl Redenbach 19, Mal Bruce 10, Shane Jones 2/23 off 6, Jacob Parker 2/29 off 6, Mitch Davis 2/43 off 5) lost to Railway Pitbulls 3/203 off 28 overs (Tim Allen 107no, Shane Jones 63, Nic Parker 18, Chris Orr 2/9 off 3 overs). Railway Pitbulls won by 7 wickets.
Railway Pitbulls will now play Bowling Club in the final of the Radiola Cup this Saturday.
This should be another fine match.
Bowling Club should feel confident of victory after their convincing win over the Pitbulls in the preliminary semi-final; however Pitbulls after their splendid batting performance against the Honey Badgers are sure to be in a buoyant mood to snatch the Radiola Cup Premiership.
Batting first at Northparkes Oval on a lightning outfield and a fine wicket the Honey Badgers should have been very pleased to score 6/198 off their allocated 30 overs.
Dan Gordon once again indicated he is a quality player as he stroked his way to 57 runs.
Chris Orr continued his recent good form scoring 49 before he fell to a superb catch taken by Tim Allen.
Earlier Carl Redenbach and Mal Bruce batted with aggressive intent to give the Badgers a good start to their innings.
Nathan Murphy and the big hitting Nathan Gaidzionis score rapid runs towards the end of the Badgers innings.
Shane Jones, Mitch Davis and Jacob Parker each snared 2 wickets apiece for the Pitbulls.
In response the Pitbulls opening batsman Nic Parker and Tim Allen soon moved into stride to post 47 runs for the 1st wicket.
Shane Jones (63 with 8 fours) and Tim Allen (107no with 20 fours) then added a match winning 151 run partnership for the 3rd wicket.
Both players played a series of fine shots, combined with tight defensive techniques to defy the Badgers bowling attack and eventually earn victory.
