“And it is amazing what mathematics teachers can convince their students to do,” Jay added. He is referring to a spectacular display the school’s maths teachers organised during Friday’s lunch break. The students gathered for this photo taken from a drone, with the Greek letter pi – representing the essential number for everything to do with circles, 3.141592654… – taking centre place in a circle. It was all in the name of Pi Day, celebrated today on the 14th day of the third month, or 3.14.
