Parkes Elvis Festival teamed up with John Holland during the 2017 Festival to help out the local disability support service, formerly the Central West Autism and Special Needs Awareness Group.
Parkes Shire Mayor, Cr Ken Keith OAM said, “We are very happy to be able to present a cheque to such a deserving local community group that is committed to creating awareness and bringing about acceptance."
“Festival-goers are very generous and managed to raise more than $700 in gold coin donations at the photographic exhibition that highlighted images of the Festival over the years,” Cr Keith said.
John Holland Senior Project Manager Warren Monks said, "It is an honour for our project team to be given the opportunity to raise funds for such a great cause”.
“Our aim is not only to build a quality Water and Sewerage Treatment Plant for Parkes Shire Council, but also to leave a lasting legacy with the local community.
“To date the project has raised in excess of $33,000."
Angela Wilson from Currajong Autism and Special Needs Group said, "Donations enable us to contribute to our community through projects, create awareness by way of education and provide support to families of children with special needs."
"We greatly appreciate this," Mrs Wilson added.
Cr Jayet added to the presentation to take the donation up to $800.
