Defending Super 6’s titleholder All Settlers have taken the lead in this year’s Parkes Golf Clubs Super 6’s competition and with just this week’s round and the final round left to play they have virtually assured themselves of back to back titles.

In a close and exciting Round 5 match the All Settlers scored a close 1 ½ shot winner over second placed the CWCU Kaos team eventually winning 142 ½ to 144 with all team members contributing to the win.
In other matches in the Championship Division the battle between the Essential Energy sides Poodle Patters and the Ding Swingers saw the Poodle Patters virtually end any hope the Ding Swingers had in taking this year’s title as they recorded a 141 to 143 ½ win while the Telescope Tyres side proved too good for the IGA All Stars with a convincing 136 ½ to 142 victory and the match between the Mexican Jewellers and the Pigs failed to reach a result.
Meantime in the Consolation Division competition leaders the Coachman Condors are no longer guaranteed the title as they went down by just 1 shot to the Troy Thomson led Grip It & Sip It side in a thriller that saw the winners record a 147 ½ to 148 ½ in a high scoring match while the B & B1 team scored bonus points in there 132 ½ to 150 thrashing of the Birdies.
In other matches both the B & B2s and the Royal Hotel recorded victories over Finne’s Fledglings and the Cellar Crows respectively.
With just two rounds left to complete the competition the standings in the Championships sees All Settlers on 29, CWCU Kaos 24, Telescope Tyres 22, Ding Swingers 20, Poodle Patters 19, IGA All Stars 18, Mexican Jewellers 12 and the Pigs on 8.
In the Consolation Division the Coachman Condors lead on 28, closely followed by Grip It & Sip It on 26, B & B 2’s 23, Birdies 20, B & B 1’s 18, Royal Hotel 10, Cellar Crows 9 and Finne’s Fledglings 4.
In the Individual competition played in conjunction saw Tim Baker of the B & B 1’s record a great 32 ½ nett in winning the Handicapped players section while in the Non-handicapped section Paul Reynolds blitzed the field with a 29 ½ nett.
Ball winners from the round went to 32 ½ Judy Fisher, 33 Trevor Chatman, Peter Picker & Brian Hogan Snr, 33 ½ Scott Knights, 34 Paul Thomas, Tony Evans & Michael Davies, 34 ½ Keiren Deland, Todd Huntly, Rodney Maxwell, Greg Powter and Tony Hendry.
Players are reminded that there has been a change in policy due to the continued misplacement of the Ball Sheet and effective immediately the Voucher & Ball Winners Sheet will be located in the clubhouse on the Members Noticeboard.
All Team Captains and players that once the competition rounds are completed and commencing on Sunday 5th March an individual competition will be held over 9 holes for the duration of Daylight Savings with the player who records the best Handicap score receiving a $50.00 voucher in each of the weeks while a ball competition will run in conjunction.
This competition will be run by the Pro Shop and the Super 6’s Committee in conjunction and the current handicap system will apply.
The Presentation of Trophies Night has been set down for Friday 17th March with a BBQ meal at no cost to players who contested the competition while partners, wives or husbands will pay $20.00 per head.
Bookings are required and may be left with Bar Staff or the Pro Shop for the evening which will commence at 7pm.
The draw for the Round 7 which will commence this Sunday sees All Settlers playing the Ding Swingers, Telescope Tyres take on the Mexican Jewellers, IGA All Stars play the CWCU Kaos side and the final Championship match sees Poodle Patters take on the Pigs and in the Consolation Division the Coachman Condors face up to the Cellar Crows, B & B1’s battle with the B & B 2’s for bragging rights, Birdies play Grip It & Sip It, and in the final match the Royal Hotel take on Finne’s Fledglings.
