Parkes Women’s Bowling
In the Club Championship Singles played this week, Rhona Went defeated Gwenda Carty and Liz Byrne defeated Robyn Morgan. Rhona Went will now play Liz Byrne in the Final to be played Sunday, March 5. Marker Robyn Morgan and umpire Gwenda Carty. The CWD Singles close on March 3 and will be played at our club April 3-5. Club Championship Pairs will open on March 7 and close 12pm March 21. Please ring Table Selectors Laurie Keane and Helen Heraghty between 8.30am and 9am. Social roster is Rosemary Mitchell.

Railway Men’s Bowls
The Railway Bowling Club was well represented at the weekend with three teams traveling to Forbes to compete in the District Triples Mick Valentine,John Corcoran and Terry Hetherington got beat in first round Geoff Leonard, Mick Furney 6, Lee Hetherington were defeated in the Semi Finals and Clive Stibbard, John O'Malley and Tony Peisley also were defeated in the Semi Finals,Winners of the Weekend were Home team Forbes defeating the Parkes Town.
The club was also represented at the Eugowra Presidents Day being successful with Tony Latter,Peter Creith and Luke Ramsay taking out the highly successful day from all reports Luke and Tony were the stand outs.
Several matches also took place at the club in the Major Singles George Greenhalgh defeated Mike Phillips 32-25 George led most of the way but Mike made a comeback taking the lead 25-24 late in the match but George got two threes and a two too win a very entertaining match. Neil Stronach caused the upset of the weekend (due to Neil's work commitments) defeating Mick Parks 31-19, Mick Valentine was too good for Ian Simpson 31-14 Mick was certainly on playing some excellent bowls. In Major Pairs 3 matches were played, Brian Smith and Bernie Coleman were beaten by a pretty fancy team Matt McGrath and Andrew Daley Bernie and Brian were down 20-2 on the 12th end fought back but Matt and Jim were too good on the day. Brett Weekes and Rod Ramsay proved too strong for Allan Affleck and Nathan Wills winning 21-11 Nathan and Allen got off to a flying start leading 9-0 but Brett and Rod finishing the better took out the match. In major pairs Peter Job and Peter Creith caused another upset defeating Dougie Miller & Luke Ramsay 19-13 both Pete and Pete played consistent bowls.
Thursday social bowls was won by Brett Cusack and Mick Parks Ruuners up Dave Law,Clive Stibbard and Graham Thomson. Winners of Saturday social bowls were Brett Cusack and Steve Turner. Wednesday winners Terry Clothier and Allen Curtis Runners Up Steve Clegg and Allen Affleck.

Sunday the Club played a 4B.B.B. Aggregate Team Event with a delayed draw which can produce some interesting pairings and comments after the draw was done. Winners on the day were Robert Rea and Phil Bishop with a score of 70 points. Runner ups were Rodney Luyt and Len Archer with 68 Points. Nearest the Pins for the Ladies. First hole still too hard with six balls on offer next event. Fourth hole went to Margaret Hogan. 11th also too hard this week. Nearest the Pins for the Men. First too hard. Fourth hole and 11th went to Ian Phipps. Sixth Phil Bishop. Lucky Card Draw. Richard Wells and Ross Smith. (Thank Heavens for small Mercies). Bunny Award. Margaret Hogan and Dawn Phipps. Raffle Winner. Margaret Hogan with R/Ups Phil Bishop and The Dragon. No Golf next week Members as The Pennants are being held at the Parkes Golf Club. There is still a whole lot of dust being thrown about the Lair by those Pesky Rabbits.( We will stand tall.) No predictions this week until we light the fire. Go Dragon’s.
SSAA Smallbore
Last Sunday saw ten shooters attend the Deep Lead Shooting Complex and shoot at ordinary targets at both 25 and 50m for a max score of 500 points.
Target Rifles: Brian Drabsch - 250 - 245 - 495, Basyl Rudenko - 250 - 239 - 489, John Davis - 250 - 233 - 483, Archie Birchell - 239 - Peter Nyman - 235, Bernard Shaw - 233 and Bernie Hetherington - 235 shot for 25m only.
Field Rifles: Ron Cunningham - 250 - 243 - 493, Paul Hocking - 247 - 238 - 485 and one shot for practice only.
Next shoot is at 10am February 26, with ordinary targets at both ranges. That only leaves five shoots at smallbore, five at centrefire at Eugowra and one at sporting clay to make up your four shoots for target shooting and two for hunting before the end of the reporting period which ends on March 31. If you have received a warning letter please attend immediately and don’t risk losing your license.
Bridge
On February 16 we played an eight table Mitchell movement and the winners were :- North south Peter Quin and Louise Payne 56.6 per cent, Bev Laing and Isabel Orange 53.5, Suzie McNamara and Greig Ball 53.1. For the east west side Vicki Burke and Dawn Phipps were winners with 57.5. Second were Gai Baker and Anne Berkeley 55.9 followed by Margaret Hawken and John Quin 54.4. This was our last game at the Railway Bowling Club as we have decided to move to a bigger room at the Leagues Club. February 20 results were for north south Bev Laing and Beryl Twardy first with 61 per cent followed by Gai and Tim Baker 56 and Robyn Sheridan and Beth Symington 49. On the east west side Suzie McNamara and Beth Thomas blitzed the field with a great 66 per cent. Second were Keith Fiedler and Ingrid Stephenson 51 followed by Anne Berkeley and Greig Ball 49. On February 21 it was a Howell movement and the winners were Val Worthington and Jan Freeman 58.9 followed by Jan Latter and Bev Laing 57.1 and Jenny Freeman and Audrey Somers 56.5.
