Despite the recent hot weather the Cowra Golf Course was presented in magnificent fashion.
All clubs praised the club not only for its condition but also its generous hospitality and the effort the club put into making the round the success it was.
With the Parkes Division 1 side receiving the first of two byes all the focus centred on the club’s minor grades and they didn’t let the club down as they recorded convincing victories in all three grades.
The Division 2 side, which is restricted to players on handicaps of 6 to 11, saw the Parkes club record a 4 & 1 victory over Duntryleague with Tim Burke remaining undefeated in the series.
He was joined in the winner’s circle by Denis Howard, Steve Edmonds and Mark Kelly while Tom Casey went down in a match that went to the 18th Hole.
The victory sees the side lead the Division as they have recorded 2 wins for 10 with Bathurst in second place on 2 wins for 6 games but they have a game in hand.
Parkes receives a bye this week while Bathurst play Duntryleague and are favoured in the all important match.
In Division 3 Parkes defeated Duntryleague in a close 3 & 2 victory that saw Colin Barker, Peter Bristol and Jake Hodge victorious.
They are virtually guaranteed a position in the semi finals as they have recorded 3 wins from as many matches with 10 games won.
They lead Forbes who are on 2 wins for 7 games.
After being defeated 5 nil last week by Cowra the Parkes No. 4 side bounced back with a great 4 & 1 win over Duntryleague.
Leading the charge was the superb effort of Tony “Scrubba” Evans who was 4 down with 6 holes to play.
With his never say die attitude he rebounded to win 1 up and it now sees the side back in the race for the semi-finals.
They currently sit in third place just 2 games behind leaders Forbes who are on 2 wins for 9 games just 1 game ahead of Cowra.
Other victories went Rod Kiley, Garry Phipps & Ron Hetherington with Cody Hando going down narrowly 2 & 1 .
This week the Parkes club hosts Round 4 with matches to commence with shotgun starts off the 1st, 6th, 10th and 16th Tees commencing at 9am.
As the Parkes club has the bye it is hoped that as many players can help out in the starting and preparations for the day.
In matches this Sunday Forbes play Cowra in Divisions 1, 3 & 4 while their Division 2 side plays Duntryleague.
In the other matches Bathurst face up to Duntryleague in Divisions 3 & 4 and they also play Cowra in Division 2.
