This year, Parkes School of Dance offers classes in Royal Academy of Dance Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Glenn Wood Tap, Ballroom, Performance Group and privates for toddlers to adults.
Parkes School of Dance teaches the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), one of the largest and most influential dance education and training organisations in the world.
Parkes School of Dance Inc will be holding RAD Exams later in the year.
For Tap Students, the School offers the Glenn Wood Tap (GWT) syllabus. This is dynamic and exciting tap syllabus, based on technique and the classic tap of the past.
The School’s teaching faculty is a team of highly qualified dance teachers who are all excited to share their skills and experience with our community.
One of these teachers is Miss Cathy.
Cathy started dance at age five and can recall her first ballet exam.
At just 15, she founded her own dance schools in Parkes and Narromine and has sent students for exams every year since!
In 1981, Cathy moved to Parkes and continued teaching until 2000 when her family relocated to Cowra. Again Cathy taught Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Pre-school classes.
Drawn back to Parkes in 2015, Cathy started teaching eisteddfod routines and RAD exam work at Parkes School of Dance as a registered RAD teacher.
This year, Cathy is teaching the RAD exam classes as well as senior ballet classes, solo work, Parkes Elvis Festival group and the popular Performance Group.
She has also recently added her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care to her repertoire.
“Dancing, especially ballet is something that I am deeply passionate about,” Miss Cathy said.
“Connecting with students in each and every class, working out what makes them tick, maintaining a safe dance practice and helping individual students reach for their stars is what it’s all about!”
