On Tuesdays we always draw for a partner and this idea was instigated by Sylvia who was a foundation member of the club. She believed that it gave learners a chance to play with a seasoned bridge player once a week.

Railway Men’s Bowls
Under extreme weather conditions over the past week there were still numerous matches played and believe me there were some very exciting games major singles matches young Doug Miller was up against former club champion Steve Frame at one stage Steve was leading 30-26 but Dougie picked up four shots to level up the match but full credit to Steve who took out the match 31-30.
Shane Sharman took out his match against young bowler Brett Weekes although Steve took out the match 31-13 Brett never gave in at any stage and the club is lucky to have these young bowlers on board.
Very experienced bowler Baldy Frame proved too strong for Ray Griffith winning his match 31-11 Griffo is making a comeback in bowls after being a champion bowler of years gone by. Lee Hetherington was far too good for Col Hornery winning 31-7 but no doubt Col it was great to see him play in these conditions.
Peter Creith over come a serious back injury to defeat Tony Peisley 31-24 Tony led early but it was Peter who got his game together too take out the match.
As I have said before I rate Allen Cameron as one of the best or the best leads in the and he certainly proved it defeating up and coming young bowler Nathan Wills (first year of championship bowls) 31-16 both bowlers played well the experience of Allen was the difference.
Luke Ramsay and Graham Cole had a great game of bowls with the scores see sawing through out with Luke going on to win 31-27 a great effort by coley to to get within 4 shots of one of the experienced bowlers in the club.
Earlier in the week Ben McNaughton proved too strong for Geoff Leonard winning 31-24 after leading throughout. Mick Parks proved too strong for Graham Thomson winning 31 -21 Tomo had his chances but Mick was too good.
One match of major pairs was played with George Greenhalgh and Paul Byrne going down narrowly to major pairs favourites Lee Hetherington and Shane Sharman 18-23.
Major singles match between John Corcoran and Jim Daley was won by Jim 31-20 the actual score does not indicate the closeness of the match, last but not least Peter Job and Guy Bennett did battle and battle it was with Guy winning 31-30 Jobie led 30-29 but Guy picked up two shots to take out the match an excellent game of bowls.
Congratulations to all the winners and the best of luck in your next rounds. Wednesday Wednesday winners were Chris Dunn and John Corcoran runners up Allan Affleck and Bernie Coleman
