Ridden by Parkes jockey Michael Hackett for Dubbo trainer Bob Tyack, Billy Bent Ear ($5) in the 800 metres Parkes Telescope Tyres & Batteries Class 2 Plate overhauled Gillie Mooch ($2.60 favourite), ridden by Greg Ryan, in the last stride.
Mr Swift ($4), ridden by Nyssa Burrells and trained by Mark Ward of Condobolin, finished a close third.
Greg Ryan missed out in the photo finish, however he earlier rode a winning double with Eagles Dare in Race 5 O'Brien Glass Class 2 Handicap at 1400 metres and Jar Of Hearts – trained by Cameron Crockett of Mudgee in Race 6 Tony's Windscreens Benchmark 55 Handicap at 1200 metres.
From the Mark Jones stable at Dubbo, Eagles Dare ($2.40 favourite), ridden by Greg Ryan, led most of the way from a wide barrier to beat stablemate Nordic Noir ($15), ridden by Ken Dunbar, by over two lengths.
Handful Of Aces ($7), ridden by Kaylee Kirkwood, finished a fast third.
Mudgee trainer Cameron Crockett continued a good run of success when Jar Of Hearts ($2.60 favourite), ridden by Greg Ryan, was a neck winner over the pacemaker Alone With You ($10), ridden by Brendan Ward, with Shadow Affair ($10), ridden by Allan Chau, third.
Enduring, trained at Dubbo by former rugby league star Terry Fahey, started a well supported $2.30 favourite and with Daniel Pitomac in the saddle, set the pace.
Enduring then cleared out in the straight to win the Parkview Motor Inn Maiden Handicap (1200 metres) by over five lengths from Western Parade ($3.30), ridden by Allan Chau, and Polson ($5), ridden by Brendan Ward.
Other winners at the successful meeting were Turbo Charger ($4.80), ridden by Brendan Ward and trained at Goulburn by Greg Gooch, in Race 1 Parkes Services Club Maiden Plate.
Parkes trainer Sharon Jeffries, with Charley, ridden by Tiffany Jeffries, claimed second.
The Todd Smart Wagga Wagga trained Tip Jar (Jason Devrimol, $9), and Dream Empress (Tony Cavallo, $5.50) from the Alison Smith stable at Orange also won races at the Parkes Racecourse.
In other racing news, one of many highlights at the Bathurst Cup Showcase TAB meeting on Friday will be former champion jockey Jimmy Cassidy appearing as a special guest.
