An 18-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition after allegedly being struck in the head during a fight he was not involved in in Batemans Bay.

Police say a physical altercation took place between two groups of men in the carpark of a hotel in Orient Street shortly before midnight on Saturday.
"An 18-year-old man, who was not part of the two groups fighting, was struck to the head," a NSW Police spokesman said.
"The assault caused the man to fall backwards hitting his head on the roadway."
The man was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital where he was placed in an induced coma before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital for further treatment.
Police believe he in a serious but stable condition.
Officers from Far South Coast Local Area Command continue with inquiries.
