Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway at Wolli Creek at 5.50pm, where they found the unconscious woman lying in the middle of the road near the intersection of Brodie Spark Drive.
The 22-year-old was critically injured in the crash. She was treated by paramedics and taken to St George Hospital, however she died from her injuries.
Footage from the scene showed a blue ute with significant damage to its front end partially resting on the footpath in the northbound lanes of the Princes Highway, near where the woman was hit.
Its bonnet was torn off, with debris scattered along the road.

Several metres away, emergency services had set up a gazebo to shield the woman while she was being treated.
NSW Police said the driver of the Holden ute, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for mandatory post-crash testing.
A male passenger was taken to St George Hospital to be assessed.
All northbound lanes of the Princes Highway were closed at the crash site as police and emergency services responded.
Traffic crews diverted cars around the scene, opening one southbound lane to northbound traffic.
Just before 8pm, the road was temporarily closed in both directions as police investigated the crash. Intermittent closures were expected late on Wednesday night as crash investigators documented the scene.
