Christmas – New Year Holiday Break
After games played on Saturday 10th of December the Parkes and District Junior Cricket Association competitions will go into recess until they are resumed on Friday February 3rd and Saturday February 4.
The executive of PDJCA extends best wishes to all players, coaches, managers, umpires, scorers and supporters for the coming festive season, trusting that you have enjoyed and gained plenty of satisfaction from being involved in PDJCA activities.
Team coaches/managers should return scorebooks and score folders for the under 10’s to Cunninghams IGA Supermarket so they can be updated prior to junior cricket resuming in 2017.
In2Cricket
In2cricket co-ordinator Scott Knights reports all systems are go with the start of the in2cricket classes on Thursday 24/11/16.
Fourteen young players are quickly developing their skills under the guidance of experienced cricket coaches at Woodward Oval on Thursday afternoons from 5 to 6pm. The final class will be on Thursday 15/12/16, resuming on 2/2/2017.
Representative Cricket
Parkes under 14’s and under 12’s to play Dubbo Blue.
Sunday 11/12/2016 will see the resumption of the Lachlan Cricket Council Inter-town junior competitions for 2016/17 after the series of Inter Council selection trials that have led to the selection of Western Zone under 16 Bradman Cup and under 14 Kookaburra Cup teams.
Parkes under 14’s will play Dubbo Blue at Spicer Oval, Parkes team management will offer a BBQ with sausage sandwiches and cold drinks at a minimal cost to players.
The under 12’s will play at Keast 2. All players are to report to their team coaches/managers by 9.15am.
Combined Parkes/Forbes under 16’s to play in Forbes
A representative under 16 game has been arranged between a combined Parkes/Forbes team against a combined Cowra/Young team. This game will be played at South Circle Oval in Forbes on Sunday 11/12/16. Players need to report to the venue by 9.15am.
Parkes players selected in Western under 14 Kookaburra Cup team
The executive of PDJCA extends hearty congratulations to Ryan Dunn and Harry Bayliss on gaining selection in the Western Zone U/14 Kookaburra Cup team that will contest the NSW Country Cricket Kookaburra Cup Carnival to be staged at Griffith from January 9 to 12.
Ryan, the son of Grant and Kerrie Dunn, is a sound early order batsman and right arm off spin bowler. Harrison, the son of Graeme and Tanya Bayliss, is an aggressive right hand batsman and lively medium pace bowler, both boys are very capable fieldsmen.
They gained selection after doing well while playing for the Lachlan U/14 team in Inter-council representative match against Macquarie Valley and Mitchell Cricket Councils.
Both players also caught the eye of selectors with good performances at the Bowral U/14 Carnival in April and at the Max Shepherd Shield U/14 Carnival at Dubbo in October.
Four other Lachlan players have also been selected in the Western Zone Kookaburra Cup team, they are Ben Scholfield (Young), Mikey McNamara (Cowra), Darcy Leadbitter and Luke McDean (both of Forbes).
Under 16 Bradman Cup
Lachlan players Nic Hall (Young) and Corey McDean (Forbes) gained selection in the Western Zone U/16 Bradman Cup team to play at Newcastle from January 16 to 19 in the NSW Country Championships.
