A man phoned triple zero about 4.45am on Tuesday to say the body was lying in the bucket of an excavator at the construction site on Park Road.

Police and paramedics arrived and confirmed the man had died. They set up a crime scene, and are investigating the cause of the man's death.

The man has not been formally identified.

A NSW Police spokesman said the circumstances surrounding the man's death were not immediately known, however his death was not believed to be suspicious.

Police believe the man have been an employee at the construction site. The spokesman said the man was believed to have been lying in front of the excavator, not in the bucket.
