Mr Toole visited Nowra to attend the first of the 22 Hit the Ground Running councillor workshops.
One workshop will be held in Parkes on Tuesday, November 8.
There is also one in Goulburn on October 27, Gilgandra on November 9 and Wagga November 16.
“Being a councillor is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to the community, but this privilege comes with responsibilities,’’ Mr Toole said.
“These workshops provide essential information for councillors to support them in serving their community and fulfilling those responsibilities.
“The workshops will provide guidance on standards of conduct, long-term planning, management of council resources and the workings of the Local Government Act.”
Those attending will hear from an experienced councillor, who will talk about what it takes to be successful in the role.
Another session will explain council meeting practice in detail.
Mr Toole said the workshops will be run by the Office of Local Government, in collaboration with Local Government NSW.
