Council crews have been working around the clock and predict the clean-up may take weeks with many uprooted trees still to be cleared in many parks and reserves, road shoulders and also private properties.
General manager Kent Boyd said with the scale of work in mind, council would like to assist residents with the safe removal of debris, limbs and fallen trees.
"Council will commence a roadside pickup program on Monday, October 24 and will carry out this relief assistance program for three consecutive days, where on Wednesday the program will be reviewed,” he said.
“If in the event of works and assistance not being completed, the pickups will continue for the remainder of the working week.
“Residents who are unable to place any debris or items on the footpath are encouraged to contact council's engineering services department to arrange for an inspection to be undertaken where works can then be assessed and prioritised.
“Please be mindful when placing debris and limbs for collection and only place items that are suitable for chipping and not general rubbish.”
Council's engineering department can be contacted from 8.30am Monday morning on 6861 2344 or for after-hours assistance in relation to council infrastructure and services, phone 1800 648 585.
Residents are reminded to call 000 in an emergency situation.
“Council urges the community to work together and help your fellow neighbours who may need a helping hand during these trying times,” Mr Boyd said.
“Residents are also reminded to be aware of the continued hazardous conditions and be prepared for further potential debris and falling tree limbs with prevailing winds.”
