Club Championships: Quite a busy week for the Club Championship players, with one Major Triples game, five Handicap Pairs games and four Handicap Singles. The Major Triples game went to the team of Gary Carberry, Dave Johnson and Peter McPhee who lead all the way for a convincing win over Col Hayward, Tom Furey and Tom Casey. The winners advanced to the Semi-Finals.
Winners of the Handicap Pairs were: John Corcoran and Wilbur Harris who had a narrow win against George Boatswain and Guy Ellery. The scores were level five times during the first 14 ends and after sixteen ends George and Guy lead 18 -17 but John and Wilbur outscored them, 8 – 2, on the last five ends to win the match 25 – 20.
Steve Ryan and Ron Hornery were too strong for Keith MacRae and Jim Blake. After being down early in the match, Dave Johnson and George Bradley came home strongly to beat Steve “Nimo” Mills and Bernie Mitchell.
Graham Barby and Tony Byrne had a convincing win over Tom Furey and Gary McPhee. Chris Dunn and Gordon Dickson proved too strong for Wally Austin and Bob Freeman.
Handicap Singles; In a marathon game, playing great bowls, Mike Valentine and Gary McPhee swopped the lead on a number of occasions and, for the fifth time, the scores were level 24 all after 31 ends before, on the next end, Mike scored the shot he need to win the match 25–24.
In another close game, George Bradley had a narrow win over Les Kent, 26 – 23. Steve Turner had a win against John Watson. Gordon Dickson proved too strong for John Ward.
Social Bowls: October 20, on a day made very difficult by the strong and cold wind, in addition to the Championship matches, five games of Pairs were played. In the closest game of the day, Mal Porter and Mick Blunt lead for most of the match to defeat Gladrin Sun and Greg Huggins 2 –15.
John Davies and Col Woods took the lead after five ends and went on for a win over Tom Furey and Joe Crowley. Col Mudie and Rob Irving had a win against John Ward and Ray Jones. John Hodge and John Dunn had a convincing win over Mike Valentine and Wally Grant. Col Hayward and Ron Fisher proved too good for John Corcoran and John Carr. The prize winners on the day were Chris Dunn and Gordon Dickson and the Runner-Up Prizes went to John Davies and Col Wood.
Saturday, October 22: In addition to the Championship matches, two games of Pairs and one of Triples were played. Col Mudie and Joe Crowley played John Carr and Chris Dunn and scores were very even over the early ends and after eight ends John and Chris had a lead of 8 – 7. Scores remained very close and after fourteen ends the score was 14 all. With one end to play John and Chris lead 18 – 17 but Col and Joe won the last end by one shot to tie the match 18 all.
The other singles match went to Tom Furey and Martin Tighe over Col Woods and Rob Irving. In the Triples match, the team of John Dunn, Ray Jones and Greg Huggins had to battle all day but eventually had a win against Ron Hornery, Mick Blunt and Bob Freeman by the narrow margin of 19 -16. Prizes on the day went to Dave Johnson and George Bradley with the Runner-up prizes going to John Corcoran and Wilbur Harris. 1300 Bugman Barefoot Bowls – Thursday, October 20.
We had eighteen teams for the second round of the Twilight Bowls season. There were two very close matches, The Royal and The Happy Wanderers being so competitive, although sadly going down by one shot each to The High Rollers and The Golden Girls respectively. The High Rollers won 15 – 14 and The Golden Girls got up 11 – 10.
Other winners were: The Butcher Boys against Bowl 4 Beer. Pink against Rebelle. We Wreck ‘em ‘N’ We Fix ‘em against Three Amigos. The Bushies against 1300 Bugman. The Girls against Elvi. Loopy Loppers against Casey Surveying. Bowl Bros. against Central West Glass. Thanks again to the organisers and the cooks for the after game snacks.

Bogan Gate Golf
Well the season is coming to an end and harvest is upon the farmers. The weather has been slightly better and some postponed golf has been played.
October 9 the members played the 2016 Foursomes Championships, 27 hole scratch winners and 2016 champions was the pairing of Ron Boness and Robert McIntyre with a scatch score of 125, Runners-up was the pairing of Stephen Edwards and Luke Edwards with a scratch score of 142. 18 Hole Handicap winner was Colin Britt and Bill Scott with a score of 78.5, 9 Hole handicap winner was Don McKeowen and Graeme Hunter with a score of 39. Nearest the pin on third and 12th was Ron Boness.
October 11 the ladies played an 18 hole Par / Stableford event winner was Di Cornelissen with a par score -6 Stableford of 29, second was Dorelle Scott with a Stableford score of 20, the scores showed how the course was playing and the first game for a few weeks for all due to weather,
Sunday, October 16 the postponed Bogan Gate Open Tournament was played with 42 players from ten different clubs. Winner of the 2016 Bogan Gate Open was Brad Hurley from Condobolin with a scratch score of 118 ,Runner-up was R Smith from Tottenham with a score of 121. Twenty seven hole Handicap winner was D Norris from Condobolin on 106.5. Eighteen Hole Scratch winner was R.Bell from Peak Hill with 82. Eighteen hole Handicap winner was R.Boness from Bogan Gate with 72. Eighteen hole Stableford winner was K.Ryan from Parkes with 34. Nine hole scratch winner was T.Callaghan from Forbes with 39, nine Hole Handicap winner was D.McKeowen from Bogan Gate with 34.5.
B Grade 27 hole Scratch winner was Robert McIntyre from Bogan Gate with 134. Runner-up was R.Hamilton from Parkes with 135, 27 hole Handicap winner was J.Gattrick from Trundle with 98, 18 hole Scratch winner was Graeme Hunter from Bogan Gate with 87. Eighteen hole Handicap winner was M.Dunne from Parkes with 71.
Eighteen Stableford winner was Matthew Jones from Bogan Gate with 38. Nine hole Scratch winner was P.Starr from Peak Hill with 40. Nine hole Handicap winner was L.Masters from Bogan Gate with 31. Five Longest Drive A Grade was Brad Hurley from Condobolin. B Grade was D.Delmenico from Tottenham. No nearest the pins were won. Veterans winner was Graeme Hunter Bogan Gate.
A big thank you, to all the men for the up keep of the course a lot of hard work and to the ladies for all the wonderful food, the ladies on the cards and bar. The Jim Nutley Memorial Trophy, October 30 which is a 4BBB Mixed. There is a meal after the game so please come along.
Mixed Netball
Thanks to all teams that had a representative last Monday. You will be able to see points from meeting added to the ladder this week. It was great to see all teams supply umpires, makes for games to run on time and we all know a game can't go ahead without umpires. Everyone's learning so please remember at all times to respect players and umpires. Parkes will be holding their junior representative tryouts October 27.

A Grade Dalton defeated Panthers 32-13. Parkes Cellars defeated Team Oresome 33-19. MCA defeated Cheaper by the dozen 40-13.
B Grade 1300bugman defeated Benchwarmers 24-19. Goal diggers defeated Cambridge hotel 27-23. Inline panel and paint defeated Vixens 29-21.
C grade Misfits defeated And the winners are 27-4. Parkes Public School forfeit to Ball Busters. Cusack all Sort defeafed Moons and Stars 41-29.

Lachlan Valley Veteran’s Golf
The Lachlan Valley Veteran Golf Competition was played at West Wyalong Country Golf Club last Thursday. Thirty-nine brave golfers made their way slowly to the club. Local knowledge proved helpful for both the A Grade Winner, Rick Lord and runner-up, Raymond Cartwright. The B Grade was taken out by Francis Hanns (Forbes) with the excellent score of 44 points from Allan Affleck (Parkes). The encouragement aware went to Brian Brown. Next Thursday we come back to Parkes for a 1 o’clock start and we travel to Grenfell the following week, for the postponed 18 hole competition, due the floods.
