Over 100 people attended the two day event, which brought together dental professionals from across the central west region.

Jenni Floyd (Director Oral Health Services at Western NSW Local Health District) said the conference is important as it allows professionals to keep their knowledge current, while also networking with other professionals in the dental field.

“Guest speakers from Sydney and nationally recognised experts in specialised dental fields spoke at the conference about important topics relating to dentistry,” Ms Floyd said.

“Professor Richard Widmer, co-author of the internationally recognised book ‘Handbook of Paediatric Dentistry’, and Professors Chris Griffiths and Mark Schifter presented at the two day conference.”

Participants from across the region representing a number of organisations including Western NSW Local Health District, Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Orange Aboriginal Medical Service attended.

“The two day event allows participants to listen to speakers talk about up to date clinical information, as well as providing an important opportunity for staff to meet with each other in person, given the vast range of locations in the region at which staff provide services,” Ms Floyd said.

“Parkes was chosen as the location for the two day conference, to enable guests to tour the new dental clinic at the Parkes Hospital.”

“We were very excited for guests to check out this great new facility and see state-of-the-art dental equipment installed, servicing the local community,” she said.

“We also have new dental staff at Parkes, including Stephanie Charry and Katie Morrison who have joined the team this year, both were excited to be attending the conference.”

The conference was held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Parkes Services Club.
