ENTERTAINING: The final of the major triples event at the Railway Men's Bowling Club was played on the weekend in what has been described as an entertaining match.

The final of the major triples has been played and decided in an entertaining match between Doug Miller, Rod Ramsay Luke Ramsay against George Greenhalgh, Mick Furney and Brian Hampton. The match was evenly contested throughout with Luke’s team winning 28-22. Congratulations bowlers from both Sides. Social bowls on Saturday were won by Jason Gosper and Allen Affleck Runners up were Dawn Parker and Tony Peisley. Wednesday winners Ron Hornery and Terry Clothier, runners-up Bill Toohey and John Dunn. On Saturday the Club contested the Club Challenge against Dubbo Railway in which the Railway came out convincing winners. Shane Sharman won his singles match 25-13. Doug Miller and Luke Ramsay won their pairs match 23-18 and Graham Thomson, Rod Ramsay and Lee Hetherington won their match 25-15 winning overall 73-46. This Saturday the club will play the second round against Wellington at the Railway club at 1.30pm. Last Thursday twilight bowls got off to a good start with 24 bowlers. Winners were Nathan Wills and Garry Phillips runners up Lorraine Baker and Lea Tanks. This Saturday there will be no social bowls, the club is asking for volunteers to assist in a working bee on the day. AGM this Sunday at 10am followed by BBQ and social bowls. The first round of the handicap pairs are to be played by October 16. The Champagne Triples October 29-30.
