The Final of the Club Championship Fours was played this week with the winners being Lorraine Heald, Eileen Bradley, Minnie Riordan, Audrey Jones defeating Brenda Davies, Cherie Frame, Liz Byrne, Rhona Went in an exciting game, 20–18. In social games played, Maureen Miller, Frances Charlton, June Burgess defeated Margaret Morrison, Flo Riseborough, Marja Iffland and Joan Simpson. Isobel Svendsen, Elaine Burgess, Hilda McPherson defeated Diane Greenhalgh, Kath Hutchison and Maureen Baillee. Rosemary Mitchell and Laurie Keane played a game of consistency.

Parkes SSAA Smallbone Rifles News
Last week saw 13 shooters attend the Deep Lead Road Shooting range on the Back Trundle Road (Victoria Street) 6km west of the main street and shoot at crow targets at both 25 and 50m for a max of 520 points. Although it had been raining it stopped during shooting and started up again as we finished along with a slight south-west wind blowing.

No regular competition Monday, due to the Public Holiday. Doubles Shootout will be held at the Parkes Hotel though. Registration open 6pm for a 6:30pm start. $2 per player.
Bridge News
We had a good field of seven tables last Thursday. North south winners were Bev Laing and Isabel Orange with a percentage of 62.9. Second were Helen McQuie and Joan Reilly 51.8 followed by Warren and Nancye Blatch 50.7. The east west winners were Louise Payne and Peter Quin 58.3 followed by Bonnie Gwyn and Fred Dennis 55 in second place.
There was a tie for third of Helen Hall and Karen Ridley with Jan Latter and Jenny Freeman all on 51.3 percent. Peter and Louise came a very creditable ninth in the Australia wide pairs event that we played in some weeks ago. There was a field of over 2000 pairs who took part in the event from all over Australia. Well done Peter and Louise. There were five tables on Monday 26. Bev Laing and Isabel Orange came top for north south with 66 per cent. Second were Beth Thomas and Suzie McNamara 57 and third were Keith Fiedler and Anne Berkeley 52.5. East west winners were Beryl Twardy and Jenny Freeman 61.5 followed by Wendy Andrews and Robyn Sheridan 53.5 and then Gary Somers and Greig Ball 52 percent.
September 27 we played a Howell movement and top with a very good score of 65.9 were Fred Dennis and Jan Freeman. Ingrid Stephenson and Val Boyd came second with 56.5 followed by Suzie McNamara and Greig Ball 54.3 and then Margaret Powter and Greig Ball 52.6. Time to organise your teams for Condobolin Bridge Club event October 9.
Railway Men’s Bowling
Last Saturday winners were Clive Stibbard, Steve Nicholson and Mick Furney win 15 plus seven runners up Dawn Parker and Terry Clothier win 13 plus 20 other matches. John Omalley and Allan Affleck won 12 plus six Wednesday winners. Wednesday winners included Terry Clothier and Greg Howlett Runners up Frank Gersbach and Nathan Willis. A sheet is up on the board for the Champagne Triples with excellent Prize money of $4500 on October 29-30. Also Handicap pairs will be played shortly put your names for the event.
Saturday’s Social Mixed bowls at 1pm. Twilight Social bowls will start on Thursday at 6pm. Teams of three will be accepted as well as single entries bowls will be followed by supper ask a friend bowls and Music supplied. This Sunday NRL grand final with social bowls commencing at 12pm From 4pm $4 refreshments with afternoon BBQ all welcome. The AGM is on October 16. Friday night, home cooked meals, meat trays, hamper draw, jackpot joker and badge draw courtesy bus available .
Swimming Club
Parkes Swimming Club Registrations will begin on Saturday, October 1 at 10am-12noon at the Parkes Pool or October 5 at 4pm-6pm. Third Registration Day Friday, October 14 at 4pm to 6pm at the Parkes Pool.
Registration cost will be $104 plus credit card fee per swimmer. Registrations are done online and we will have computer access for parents during rego times. On these days there will also be opportunities for squad assessment and information about the Club.
Orders and payment for Club Costumes can be made at these times. Squads will start second week of holidays. First Club Night will be October 14. Swimmers may join the Club at any time during the season. Come on down and join a club to get fit and learn a skill for life.
