There are currently flood warnings across inland NSW affecting both major traffic corridors and smaller roads.
Many roads have been closed around Forbes and areas surrounding the Lachlan River, including the Newell Highway between Forbes and West Wyalong.
Floodwaters present a significant danger to motorists and are a major cause of death during floods.
Commander of the Traffic and Highway Patrol, Acting Assistant Commissioner David Driver, is urging all motorists to recognise the dangers during these floods and take personal responsibility for their actions.
“People who drive into floodwaters placed themselves in real danger,” he said.
“If you see a road closed sign, it means the road is unsafe to travel on.” Current traffic conditions can be found at www.livetraffic.com.au or council websites.
