In the A Grade reigning Club Champion Justin Sutton fired an even Par round of 71 to take the Scratch award by four shots from Steve Edmonds with Peter Dixon a further shot back on 76.
Meanwhile in the Handicap section Edmonds playing off a 7 handicap was brilliant as he fired a great 68 nett to be 3 shots under his handicap and when informed of his victory he was ecstatic and thanked his playing partners who urged him on as well as the event sponsor.
Countbacks decided the B & C Grade awards as Paul Thomas took the B Grade Scratch after he and Troy Thomson finished level on 88 while in the handicap it was Peter Picker, who deprived Thomas of the double as they, along with Jake Hodge all finished on 74 nett.
While Richard Hamilton also survived a three way countback in taking the C Grade Scratch award after he Tony “Scrubba” Evans and Mark Francis returned rounds of 95. Veteran golfer Rod Luyt returned to the winners list after a long absence when he fired a great 68 nett the equal best of the day.
Luyt like Edmonds congratulate his playing partners and the events sponsors for their generosity and made mention that despite the tough playing conditions the club’s greens staff had done an exceptional job in preparing the extremely wet playing surface.

In the Griffins Leading Edge Putting competition once again it was Paul Thomas who excelled as he returned just 24 putts for the 18 holes. Chris Goodie also took part in the Parkes Golf Club’s September Monthly Medal and hit a magnificent 3 iron to just 120cms on the Harvey Norman sponsored 11th Hole.
