Under 14s Through to Grandfinal: Parkes Sportspower under 14s travelled to Manidra last Saturday to play local opposition Forbes for a spot in the Grandfinal. Parkes kicked off with strong defence kicking into action. Although a penalty gave six again Parkes continued to stop Forbes from gaining ground. Kick on the sixth was retrieved by Zac Davies and Parkes started their attack, when Forbes defence took Parkes out just short of the try line. Eventually a kick on the sixth by Forbes was caught by Nic Facchi as Nic took off to score and successfully convert. Eden Lydford pushed his way through the Forbes line to score under the post followed by another successful conversion by Nic.

Long passes by Parkes saw Forbes take possession but the boys remained settled and defended well forcing a knock-on and gaining possession for Parkes. Another set of solid runs by Brendan Trim, Finnley Neilsen and Nic Facchi resulted in another try to Nic followed by another successful conversion. With nine minutes still remaining in the first half Forbes were determined to score applying pressure to Parkes forcing an error and gaining possession. Finnley Neilsen and Nic Facchi worked well to hold Forbes out from scoring. Forbes defence continued to hit hard and another Parkes error gave Forbes possession with five minutes to go. Brendan Trim, Finnley Neilsen, Cody Crisp were tireless with their tackling eventually half-time rang and the boys could take a break. Parkes had a solid lead 18 – 0. The second half, there was concern for Parkes after Forbes kick off bounced back into Forbes line giving them possession and a chance to score. Parkes defence fought hard to gain possession back. Parkes crowd were on their feet as quick play and passing saw Parkes gain solid ground and Tyson Richardson run and reach through the Forbes defence to score. Conversion by Nic Facchie was successful.
A Parkes error gave Forbes the opportunity they needed to score but were unsuccessful in converting. Forbes continued to put points on the board taking advantage of another Parkes error, conversion was unsuccessful. Jordan Blackhall continued to make ground with a chip and chase from Nic Facchi saw Cody Crisp score and Nic convert. With five minutes to go Parkes were determined to put more points on the board. Precision ball passing saw Dodo make a break putting Parkes in good position for continual play and Cody Crisp to score his second try. Conversion was successful by Nic. Benny Herring and Cody Crisp applied pressure with tackle after tackle forcing errors as the full-time horn blew. Parkes Sportpower under 14s had won 36-10 and now go to the grandfinal.
