“It means so much to me,” he said.
“One was enough, but to win two in a row is a dream come true. I hope it happens year after year after year, because I love this feeling.”
Goolagong’s mano-e-mano battle with Forbes hooker Jarrod Hall was a highlight of the 14-11 decider, the two clashing regularly as both wrestled for the upper-hand.
“He’s the captain of my first XV side at Stannies. We’re really good mates,” Goolagong smiled, relishing the bout.
“We were hoping the other one would punch us so they’d get the yellow. Just a bit of gamesmanship, we’re really good mates.”
He said the muddy conditions made for a tough clash, particularly in the forwards.
“So hard, set piece was full on,” the Emus hooker said.
“They are such a good scrummaging team. I’m just so proud and happy.
“It was a bit boggy down there in this half,” he said looking at the southern end of the ground.
“We had to tough it out. It wasn’t about being classier than the other team, it was about battling it out and winning the contact.
“It was tight to the end.”
