The club is all geared up for the event as the weekend of September 17 and 18 fast approaches.
Apart from naming rights sponsor SCT Logistics, the club has once again signed sponsorship deals that will ensure the success of the clubs’ premier golfing event.
Heading the list of co-sponsors is that of naming rights sponsor for the prelude event the 4Ball Best Ball Stableford event on Saturday, September 17 with Atlas Copco Australia accepting the rights for the third successive year.
Atlas Copco Australia are heavily involved in the mining industry.
Local area manager Allan Sharpe said he was proud and excited to once again support the Parkes Open tournament weekend, an event he describes as the pinnacle golfing event in NSW Country.
He said it is a tribute to the organising committee for the effort and manner in which the event is conducted.
Sharpe also said he wouldn’t miss the event “for quids” as the friendships gained at the event will be everlasting, as will the memories.
The event attracts several characters who continue to make the weekend what it is.
Parkes Golf Club captain Paul Thomas said it was a pleasure to have the backing of Atlas Copco.
He also said it was great to have on board associated sponsors who make the tournament, some of whom who have been associated with the event for more than 20 years.
These companies include Harvey Norman, Video Brokers through its subsidiaries Kooler Ice & the Tobacco Station Group, and Parkes Mensland.
Asquith Golf Club has been involved for many years.
So too has local mayor Councillor Ken Keith.
Meanwhile the Leister family will sponsor the player who records the lowest nett score over the initial 18 holes with the John “Gidgie” Leister Memorial Trophy.
Leister will long be remembered as one of the persons instrumental in promoting the Parkes club and especially the open tournament into the event it is today.
