A playoff was required as Cherrie Phillips took out her maiden singles Ron Dunfords Pharmacy sponsored Ladies Club Championship at the Parkes Golf Club on Sunday.

Phillips who had led after the first three rounds was forced into a playoff with defending titleholder Lynne Guise after both players finished locked together on 366.
Guise forced the playoff when she closed with a solid 92 after Phillips had led going into the final 18 holes.
During the playoff both ladies finished the three hole playoff on 1 over par after recording bogey 4’s on the Par 3, 1st Hole and then both fired pars on the Par 5, 2nd and on the third playoff hole the difficult Par 4, 9th Hole.
Pars were again the order and as per conditions both Guise and Phillips were forced into sudden death play off and on the Par 3, 1st Hole ultimately it saw Phillips crowned the queen of Parkes Ladies Golf Championship after she recorded a par 3 to Guise’s bogey 4.
Guise in handing over the crown as Ladies Club Champion showed true sportsmanship as she congratulated Phillips on her victory.
In the minor grades Colleen Flynn took out the B Grade, after finishing six shots clear of Leone Stevenson, while in C Grade junior Kasey Fay-Rice was a close three shot victor over Liz Matthews.
It also saw Fay-Rice crowned the junior champion and Matthews the Super Veterans titleholders.
In the handicap sections of the championships, which were sponsored by Ron Dunfords Pharmacy, saw Kaye Jones the victor in A Grade on 306 nett some 12 shots ahead of her sister Lynne Guise who edged out Cherrie Phillips on a countback.
In B Grade Colleen Flynn made it a double with a 10 shot margin over Leone Stevenson and in C Grade Sue Holman reigned on 314 nett some three shots ahead of Liz Matthews.
In the daily 18 hole handicap awards Kaye Jones was the winner of Saturday’s 3rd Round with a solid 75 nett, while Sunday’s final round saw Sue Holman the victor with a 75 nett.
MEN’S RESULTS
The male members of the club contested the Phil Barnard Painting Service 18 hole 2 Ball Multiplier Stableford event.
For the second year running the donor was forced to play second fiddle and hand over the trophy to Brian Hogan and Reg Davison who finished on 67 points.
Barnard and his playing partner Club Captain Paul Thomas celebrated Barnards wedding anniversary with a solid 70 points and as is the case the sponsor can’t claim their own trophy.
In the individual competition which was run in conjunction saw John Green acclaimed the victor on 38 points on a countback from Michael Smith.
Ball winners from the round were won by 70 Phil Barnard & Paul Thomas, 65 Wayne Parker & Michael Smith, 64 Dave Stevenson & Robert Cheney, John Green & Peter Dixon, Dave Harwood & Garry Phipps and surviving the countback were Wayne Powter & Robert Hey.
In Nearest the Pin awards Wayne Powter at 390cms took out the Idlerite Tyrepower 1st Hole, Peter Dixon cleaned up on the Griffins Leading Edge 4th Hole at 230cms, Luke Greenwood was the victor on the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th Hole at 134cms while Peter Boschman reigned on the Harvey Norman 11th Hole at 284cms and on the Westlime 15th Hole saw Daniel Bayley the victor at 249cms.
On the final holes of each nine holes in two shots saw Michael Kable the victor on the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th Hole at 130cms while on the Parkes Golf Shop sponsorship 18th Hole it was Matt Lawryk who claimed the two balls at 190cms.
