Three state Labor MPs have written to the ALP's head office asking the party to disendorse the Mayor of Fairfield, Frank Carbone, arguing his property interests conflict with his public duties.

NSW Labor has campaigned to ban property developers and real estate agents from councils.

"I'm being done over," Mr Carbone said. "Someone's getting sued."

A furious Mr Carbone said he is not a developer and has submitted no development proposals for eight years.

The law defines a property developer as someone who makes regular development applications or "close associates" such as spouses or related business entities.

Cr Carbone regularly declares personal and family business interests in the suburb of Canley Valey within Fairfield's city limits. He also discloses income from two trusts.

"We urge NSW Labor to request that Mr Frank Carbone also produce tax returns for each of the trusts [ … and… ] request evidence of acquisitions or disposal of property by the trusts," the MPs write. "We request the NSW branch refuse [his] candidacy".

The Mayor's brother and business partner, Pasquale Carbone, is a real estate agent and has developed properties. He spent $175,000 on the failed election campaign for the controversial No Land Tax party at the last NSW election.

Cr Carbone declined to comment on his beneficial trust, P&F 100, or the business activities of his family company.

That company, Joielle, owns one-third of the shares – the remainder are held by a company directed by his brother Pasquale – in a business which partly owns nine plots of land in Canley Vale.

That land was advertised for sale earlier this year as a "landmark development site" and one of the last remaining opportunities for development in Canley Vale.

The Sun-Herald makes no suggestion that the site has been developed.

It has previously been reported that Cr Carbone was considering challenging Nick Lalich MP for the seat of Cabramatta. Mr Lalich, one of the MPs who signed the letter objecting to Cr Carbone's nomination, previously directed a company that made lucrative land deals in Liverpool more than a decade ago.

Cr Carbone said another signatory to the letter, frontbencher and Fairfield MP Guy Zangari, had since withdrawn his support for the letter. Mr Zangari refused to comment. Prospect MP, Hugh McDermott, was the third MP to sign the letter.

Labor's head office said the letter would be forwarded to the party's candidate review committee.

Meanwhile, a political rival of the Mayor of Liverpool, Ned Mannoun, has written to the Liberal party's head office requesting the Mayor not be preselected.

That request comes after Cr Mannoun's home and office were raided last week by the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Cr Mannoun said he was "delighted" that the ICAC had decided to investigate him, saying he had invited them to do so after he was attacked in a speech to parliament by an MP from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.

But Cr Mannoun's bitter rival, Cr Peter Ristevski, wrote to Liberal head office through his solicitor questioning whether ICAC was working with Cr Mannoun's cooperation.

"[We] move that Mr Mannoun be suspended pending the outcome of the final determination of the ICAC investigation," the letter reads.

Mr Mannoun declined to comment.

Local government elections for councils not being merged by the Baird government will be held in September.
