It’s a 1966 HR Holden Premier Station Wagon which he’s owned for about two or three years.
Jacko admits that he wasn’t even looking for another car when he happened across this one, but he’s pretty pleased that he’s got it.
“I’ve got too many projects as it is already,” Jacko said, “but this one ended up coming along at the right time.”
He’d seen it for sale in Canberra and just gave it a passing glance.
But when his regular car was written off in an accident and he had some cash to spend, he just couldn’t resist.
It was a one-owner car, had spent all its life in Canberra and had been well looked after.
When the owner passed away his son’s, who were both Ford fans, decided to sell it and that was Jacko’s gain.
The body had quite a few bumps and scrapes from its later years but Jacko had those straightened out and new paint laid on just from the windows down in the original Landale Gold metallic.
“The rest of the paintwork was in good condition and the Grecian White roof came up a treat with a buff and polish.”
It’s a six-seater wagon with front and rear bench seats and a three speed manual column shift behind the 186 cubic inch six cylinder engine.
Jacko reckons that mechanically it’s a bit tired but it’s running well enough now to enjoy it and that’s what he plans to do.
While he gets back to work on some of his other projects he can cruise around in the wagon.
He normally runs the original 13 inch wheels but had a set of Dragway mags that seemed to suit and have dressed the wagon up nicely.
Jacko is a member of the Central West Car Club which meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the Parkes Leagues Club.
