The winner of the Gold division for this term was Olivia Dolbel, who has made a huge improvement with her technique and ground strokes through persistent hard work.
Olivia went through the competition undefeated and was closely followed by Charlie Strudwick.
Charlie is a consistent performer week in, week out, and was happy with runner-up.
The Green division was a mix of players who had played a couple of comps on the full court and a few players who were promoted from the Orange court onto the full court.
All players in this division played well and adjusted to having more court to cover but also enjoyed the extra space for serving.
The winner of this division was Charlie Mahon.
Charlie enjoys his tennis and is always a reliable participant.
He has made some excellent improvements in his game this term to see him go through undefeated.
Runner-up was Lily McCormick on a countback from Zoe Anderson.
Both these girls have been trying hard this term and Lily has been inspired by her older sister Maddie’s performances.
Lily has even played in two out of town tournaments for some extra practice.
Lily finished just three games ahead of Zoe.
The players in the Orange division are continuing to learn their craft and understand more about the strategies involved in playing the game of tennis.
Emily Neems has had a super term of learning and always gives her best efforts.
Emily went through this term not conceding many games at all and will thrive next term with her new challenge of the Green division. Congratulations Emily!
Brooklyn Pinkstone has continued to improve and is busting to get onto the full court in the green division.
Brooke has been working on her strokes and did well to finish runner-up and deserves her promotion next term.
There were three Great Effort trophies presented to the following players- Ella Peterson for her effort in the Orange division and her improvement this term; Zoe Anderson for her consistent performances and excellent sportsmanship; and Koby Wirth for his desire to compete and improve his skill set amongst more experienced players.
Thanks to Mrs Jan Charlton for drawing the three lucky draw names and surprisingly, all three were in attendance.
Thomas Simpson, Lily McCormick and Steph Peterson were all chuffed with their prizes donated by Helen Magill.
The singles and doubles division will finish tonight with pizza and presentations from 6.15-6.45pm.
Caroline Kennedy (Molly’s mum) and Alison McCormick (Maddie’s mum) will be organising the presentation and pizza in Helen’s absence.
The next junior competition will commence Tuesday, July 19.
There will be half hour singles divisions as well as the singles and doubles division.
Names need to be in to Helen by Tuesday, July 12.
COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Good luck to Abbey Kennedy, Molly Kennedy and Holly McColl who will be travelling to Forster this weekend to compete in the NSW Country Championships due to start next Monday.
Unfortunately Georgia Sideris had to withdraw due to family commitments, and Jake Magill hasn’t overcome an ongoing ankle injury in time to compete.
Abbey and Holly will be playing in the 12s and 13s singles and partnering in the doubles while Molly will get in some extra time on court in the 10s round robin singles and doubles ready to play in the PSSA knockout after the holidays.
