Having almost folded at the beginning of the year, a group of horse loving mums have banded together to keep the club operating and holding regular rally days at the beautiful grounds on Tanks Lane.
Members have been enjoying a whole range of instruction including work in flat work and dressage, jumping, mounted games, sporting including barrel racing, flag and bending racing as well as having lessons in theory.
President Sally Chapman said the committe are keen to have the members learn as much as they can while they are here twice a month.
“We aim to offer them a variety of learning experiences and disciplines making sure everything is fun and friendly,” she said.
While there are only 15 riding members signed up, the club is keen to attract even more members to make the club sustainable into the future.
Parkes Pony Club is aiming to host at least two rally days every month and is looking for other exciting activities for its members later in the year including a fancy dress day and a trail ride.
“The club would love to see some new faces, or even old ones!
“We want to make sure there is a pony club in town in the future that encourages the wonderful sport of equestrian disciplines,” Sally said.
Parkes Pony Club is seeking people to help instruct its members - one Sunday a year would be wonderful.
“There are only three volunteers who are currently teaching and we need more to make sure we can have as many rally days as possible.”
