Parkes police have praised the efforts of local motorists during the Anzac holiday weekend when only two motorists were stopped for speeding offences and an elderly motorist issued an infringement for failing to secure a load.

Statewide it was a different matter with police’astounded’ by the number of drivers detected speeding.
Tragically, eight people died on NSW roads - double the number for the same period last year.
Within the Lachlan LAC, a total of 1200 random breath tests were conducted with motorists arrested and charged in Forbes and Condobolin.
In Parkes, a 23 year-old male was detected travelling at 71 km/h in a 50 km/h zone at 9.11am on Monday. It was discovered a five year-old child was inside the vehicle, but without a booster seat.
He was issued two infringement notices - one for exceeding the speed limit and the other relating to the restraint offence.
With double demerit points in place during the weekend, he lost 12 points for the offences.
At 1.30pm Monday, an 18 year-old P2 male driver was detected on radar travelling along the Newell Highway at 104 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
He was issued an Infringement Notice and his licence suspended.
Then at 2pm Monday, a 73 year-old Parkes man was stopped whilst driving a heavy vehicle laden with an excavator.
Neither the excavator nor bucket attachments were secured.
As a result he is facing severe restraint charges which as of yesterday were still pending.
In NSW police conducted 217,339 breath tests with 244 people charged for drink-driving.
A further 4,304 people were issued infringement notices for speeding whilst police also issued 6,440 infringements for other offences including mobile phone, helmet and registration offences.
